Bob Walsh

Bob Walsh, M.A. LCPC, has worked as a helping professional for over 28 years. He began as a classroom teacher who earned his masters degree in counseling psychology to better motivate his students. After his teaching years he worked as a school counselor, clinical director at a Family Social Service Agency, college teacher and administrator, and private practitioner. He has worked on the faculty of North Central College and Lewis University.

Bob has been president of the Illinois Mental Health Counseling Association. He has been the chair of the American Counseling Association's Public Policy and Legislation Committee. This committee serves as trainer for the national organizations legislative and state lobbying efforts and oversees state funding grants for branch organization's to promote counselors. Bob developed Illinois Mental Health Counseling Association's Employment, Managed Care and Insurance Task Force, helping individual counselors strengthen their practices.

Bob has presented numerous workshops on a variety of topics. His workshop on "How to Start a Successful Private Practice", co-developed with Norman Dasenbrook, has been very successful and helped hundreds of licensed counselors enter private practice. He co-authored the book on the subject with Mr. Dasenbrook. He also presents workshops on Motivation, Parenting, and Consulting with Teachers and Administrators among others. His workshops on organizational fundraising have been presented nationally.

Bob has been awarded 'Counselor of the Year' by the American Mental Health Counselors Association and helped earn the 'Best Service to Members Award' in 1999 and 'Best State Program' in 2003 for the Illinois Mental Health Counselors Association. The YMCA has named him 'Volunteer of the Year'. Among his happiest honors was the parenting of three children, now all adults.

Norm DasenbrookNorman C. Dasenbrook, MS, LCPC is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor who has over 28 years experience in the fields of mental health, consulting, teaching, business and alternative dispute resolution processes. He is a mediator in private practice concentrating on family, corporate and work group mediation. He is a consultant and provider to numerous local and national Employee Assistance Programs and managed health care companies.

Norm is Past President of the Illinois Mental Health Counselors Association and winner of the Distinguished Service Award for 2005. Norm and Bob Walsh present their highly successful workshop, "How to Start a Successful Private Practice" twice a year as a revenue-funding source for the state organization. They have co-authored, "The Complete Guide to Private Practice for Licensed Mental Health Professionals".

Norm is also co-author of Harnessing the Power of Conflict: Optimum Performance Through the Self-Mediation Method, 1994, Crysand Press, Harnessing the Power of Conflict: Business and Family, 1997, Crysand Press and Harnessing the Power of Conflict: Leading, Learning and Living, 2003, Crysand Press. He also serves as an executive coach for improved performance and interpersonal skills for organizations.

Norm has extensive experience consulting for businesses, industry, and health care. Lecturer, teacher and consultant to a number of corporations, Norm is a clinician who maintains a private practice in individual, marriage and family counseling in Rockford, Illinois.
